Technology has its limitations but it can be put to unlimited use in the limited sphere evidently the reason that few enthusiast and advocates of women safety are organising events to seek technology-based solution to gender-based discrimination.
Experts and technologists will come together to address the challenges of violence against women by finding innovative technological solutions to issues surrounding prevention, response and awareness at Hackathon to combat gender-based violence organised in Ranchi from January 24 to 26. As many as 130 participants will be attending the programme.
The event will be jointly organised by the US Consulate Kolkata, US-based non-profit organisation ‘Geeks Without Bounds’, Bangalore based non-profit organisation ‘The Bachchao Project’ and Random Hacks of Kindness India.
The programme is being designed to talk about and understand gender-based violence in East and North East India and provide an understanding of how to create interventions to solve gender issues with technology.
These initiatives by various organisations from across the globe range from mapping violence to gathering data and providing survivors with access to essential information and support.
