Governor Syed Ahmed on Saturday felt the need to develop the cooperative societies of the state in order to benefit the rural population. He was highlighting this issue with reference to the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Solar Energy departments of the State.

Addressing the weavers of various districts at a workshop he spoke about the necessity of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS) and large Sized Adivasi Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (lAMPS) in the villages.

Most of the experienced weavers here stressed on regular trainings for them on behalf of the state government. “We are still working on the self-created old fashioned designs on the clothes. Regular trainings would help us in acquiring latest designs prevalent in the co-operative market nowadays,” said Shahbuddin Momin, a member of Muri Weaver’s Society.

Chanhu block weaver Akmal Ansari who has supplied designs from Jharcraft said, “We have to apply the modern designs but without changing our weaving technique. This creates difficulty for us. Regular Government trainings would help us in following latest techniques along with the modern designs.”

Shashi Bhusan from Chatra district weaver’s association also emphasized on encouraging the local weavers since the demand of co-operative materials is quite appreciable in their area. Rajhans Rahi, a weaver from Giridih said, “Government run training programmes for people like us are never organized at our region.”

The empowerment of women through such training programmes was also discussed here. Expressing a wave of happiness for these helpless weavers, Registrar, Co-operative Societies KK Soan said, “The purpose of this state cooperative societies meet was to inform the weavers about the new impetus taking place in the cooperative sectors. We will soon launch the 97th amendment for the State cooperative societies. It is the responsibility of the Jharkhand Cooperative Federation limited to impart regular trainings to the local weaver associations working across the State.”
