Governor cum Chancellor of State run universities Droupadi Murmu today asked students not to remain contended with degrees but continue their pursuit of knowledge in life to become better human beings. While addressing students in the first ever Convocation Ceremony of Nilamber Pitamber University at Medininagar (Daltonganj) on Thursday, the Governor said that the convocation should not be taken as walling of education but it should be taken as a new door to more exploration.

The Governor said that she wanted girl students to excell in martial arts asking university officials to start the course. She termed this first convocation as ‘historic’ and addressed students as ‘dear students.’ She remembered the two martyrs of freedom struggle Nilamber and Pitamber on this occasion before embarking upon the value of art and culture in life and how these two things matter most in the life of the students.

An old jinx was broken when the 9-year-old Nilamber Pitamber university held its first ever convocation ceremony. Notably, the Senate meeting also took place this year after nine-year wait. NPU Vice Chancellor S N Singh said, “Our team held both the things – the meeting of the senate and now this convocation with clarity of objectivity. The university is set to achieve more such goals in future.”

Pro VC P K Poddar said, “The team had weighed every minute things for this show and its result is here today to be seen and believed.”

More than 30 students got gold medal from the Chancellor. More than 500 students were given certificates by officials. The Chancellor remained here in this function for little over an hour and 25 minutes and the entire ceremony went on without any noise.

Palamu Commissioner M K Jha, who was in this ceremony today said, “This was the most disciplined show of the university where everyone behaved too nicely.”

Members of senate, syndicate and academic council marched in Bhartiya Paridhan.

Security arrangement was adequate and Palamu police acted well. However, the close door neighbour CRPF’s  134 battalion whose commandant A D Sharma and down the line officers have their chamber/ offices right across the convocation ceremony remained off the ceremony despite proper invitation cards given to them, said sources.

The whole show went minute by minute and without any interruption man made or machine made like failure of sound system etc. There were 4 huge screens which carried the live show of Chancellor’s gracing the occasion.
