District administration and protestors have decided to keep an eye over the obscenity on Valentine’s Day. On one side Gulabi Gang, the women clad in pink sarees, has planned to protest against public display of affection at parks and other places, on the other side police will conduct day-long patrolling.
“We cannot disclose the details. But, have plans of visiting parks and restaurants. We will create chaos or make the lovebirds do sit-ups if they are found getting intimate in such places. last year also, we had protested against such obscenities at Sido-Kanhu Park,” said Rani Kumari, head of the pink brigade also termed Gulabi Gang.
Inspired by actress Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla starrer movie Gulabi Gang released in 2014, a group of around 100 women aged in 40s was formed last year. The purpose of these women is to show their ‘heroic spirit’ on such romantic occasions. Meanwhile, police personnel at Ranchi and Hatia are gearing to be alert into troops. Sources from Mahila Police Station, Kotwali pointed out that police officers and staffs will inspect restaurants, parks, malls, schools and colleges under their respective police station on February 13 and 14. Shakti Mobile will also be a part of this patrolling.
“We will start observing activities taking place in Doranda College, Shree Krishna Park and Spring City Mall,” Hatia Deputy Superintendent of Police Nisha Murmu said. However, some youth are neither scared of police or Gulabi Gang. Interestingly, they have decided to take their partner to one of the public places and express their feelings.
A young cricketer of Jharkhand State Cricket Association, who is in a relationship for past four months, said, “My girlfriend and I hardly get time to spend together. I will either go for a long drive or take her to a restaurant where we both can have snacks together, chat and hug each other. We are least bothered about Gulabi Gang or Police. There is no reason to fear because our love is true,” said the cricketer who has completed his graduation in commerce from St Xavier’s College.
Similarly, a standard tenth student of a renowned school of Ranchi who is dating a college girl for past three years said, “We have been visiting Rock Garden on every Valentine’s Day. No one bothers us so there is no reason to fear. Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya (Why fear if in love).”
