Calling implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) a historical decision, BJP national spokesperson Zafar Islam has said that there might be some glitches in its execution, but it will have positive impact on the poor bringing most of the people into the tax net and leading to an increase in the GDP without affecting the inflation.
Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Islam also added that the people need not to get panicky as it is the common man who will be benefitted most out of it.
“It is perhaps first ever historical decision taken by any Government after Independence to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. It will have positive impact on the poor while putting an extra burden on the pockets of the rich people,” said the BJP National Spokesperson. There is no need to panic as it is not going to affect the poor at all,” he added.
Islam added through GST, people all over the country, be it the rich or the poor, will be put in a single chain through similar tax for any particular product all over the country.
“Articles of daily uses have been kept out of the tax net while fixing reasonable tax on luxury items,” he said. Even though there might be some glitches during the execution, it would have a positive impact on the overall economy of the country, he added.
“GST is going to create positive impact on the economy as it will help in improving the GDP without affecting the inflation which will further help in creating more jobs for the people in the country,” said Islam. As more and more people come under the tax net, it will also bring more certainty and transparency in the business, he added. Islam also assured that once people move to GST net, they will realize that it is actually a great relief for them. He also said that an awareness programme has been launched at the Central and State level to remove confusion among the people in this regard.
