Grandparents and grandchildren share a special bond that is cherished by both. It motivates grandparents to live longer and also teaches children to be emotionally resilient. It has been a tradition at Sarala Birla Public School to celebrate Grandparent’s Day as it gives us an opportunity to treasure and cherish that bond. The students of Std II celebrated the Grandparents Day ‘Vatsalyam’ 2022 on Saturday with great verve and enthusiasm.
The event was graced with the presence of chief guest Siddharth Tripathi, Chief Conservator of Forests, Ranchi, Padma Shri recipient Mukund Nayak, a preserver and exponent of traditional folk art. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by all the eminent guests and dignitaries followed by the welcome song. It was a mellifluous performance which set the mood for the occasion. After this, a scintillating dance performance was presented by the students of Std II F on the theme ‘There is a hero in everyone’. Students of Std. II D gave a mesmerizing performance in ‘Vishnu Stotram’ wherein the students presented a programme to depict various forms of Lord Vishnu.
It was an incredible moment for the grandparents to witness the synchronization of talent and tradition of their grandchildren. Students of Std II C came up with an enthralling dance performance on the theme ‘Sharing is Caring’. The school’s annual report was presented by the Head boy followed by ‘Chandalika'; a live dance drama written by Rabindranath Tagore to eradicate untouchability, by the budding artists of Std. II A. The little performers of Std. II E came up with a graceful performance on the theme ‘Family bond’, enacting the important relationships we share with the members of the family. The dynamic performers of Std. II B presented their exhilarating dance drama on ‘Live for a Cause’ portraying the Padma Shri recipients of our state, Jharkhand. Grandparents Day was a memorable one for the grandparents, who left the school with pleasant memories, loads of appreciation and heaps of blessings.
Chief Guest Siddharth Tripathi appreciated the presence of grandparents on the school premises. The commencement of the programme with Saraswati Vandana was like a soothing balm. Such events connect us to our roots. He also added that our lives should not be evaluated on the basis of marks obtained and pay packages but on the moral values inculcated in us from our childhood. In today's time when old age homes are flooding the country it is really praiseworthy that the school has arranged special programmes for grandparents.
Guest of Honour, Mukund Nayak appreciated the efforts of the school for arranging a programme specially for grandparents. He added that, earlier people who lived in villages led a simple and happy life but in recent times people have got caught up in the rat race for name, fame and money, losing all the valuable relationships on their way to success. Through his popular folk songs, he reminded us that we should never forget our culture and traditions, stay connected to our roots and become responsible citizens of tomorrow.
School Head Personnel and Admin, Dr. Pradip Varma appreciated the effort of the School fraternity and congratulated the entire team for the grand success of the programme.
Principal Paramjit Kaur expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the guests and parents for reposing their faith and always extending their co-operation to the school. She also added that we need to work together to make the children global citizens, breaking the shackles of ‘narrow domestic walls’ and attaining ‘freedom from fear’. She concluded by saying that ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’, as our scriptures propound, should be our motto.
