Grand alliance partners hail victory in bypolls

Ruling coalition partners JMM and Congress today thanked the people of Dumka and Bermo constituencies for keeping faith in the government and giving a second chance to the leaders of the alliance in the bypolls on two seats. After registering victory on two seats in the State the alliance partners said that the people of the two constituencies reposed faith in the works of government by selecting the two MLAs.

Holding a press conference after the victory of JMM candidate Basant Soren from Dumka and Congress’ Kumar Jaimangal from Bermo, JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the triumph of the Grand Alliance candidates was a clear indication by the voters that they have negated the lies of the NDA.

“We have seen three former CMs campaigning for two bypolls and they were challenging us on the basis of the works of the Government. In the last 10 months we were struggling against the pandemic situation, but we kept working. We brought people of Jharkhand from far off areas and started work to connect them with employment opportunities,” he said.

“Today is a historic day for the State and tomorrow is going to be another historic day as the government is going to take decisions on Sarna Code for tribals for the first time in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, president of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee cum Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Congress Legislature Party Leader and Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam, Health Minister Banna Gupta and Agriculture Minister Badal, Party State Spokesmen Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdev and Rajesh Gupta alongwith others leaders, have described the Bermo and Dumka Assembly bye-election results as expected. They congratulated each other in the party's State office by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.

Earlier, Oraon said that in 2019 Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress candidate had won in Dumka and Bermo Assembly seats but due to constitutional obligation in Dumka and demise of party MLA Rajendra Prasad Singh in Bermo bypolls were necessitated. He said that the people of the region had reposed trust in the Congress coalition government for 5 years and this was once again confirmed in the bye-elections.

CLP leader Alamgir Alam, said that the manner in which incessant rhetorical statements were being made by several BJP leaders in the bye-election had an impact on the election results.

However, reacting to the bypoll results, State BJP president Deepak Prakash expressed gratitude to the voters of both the constituencies who voted to strengthen democracy. He said that the BJP also thanks all the voters, who supported the NDA candidate more than before in both the places. Prakash also thanked the workers of BJP, AJSU, JDU, JMM Ulagulan who played important role in the bye-election and increased public support with their hard work.
