Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Executive president Hemant Soren today sought from opposition parties to decide on the shape of grand alliance as early as possible because, he said that the upcoming general elections are nearing day by day. The Opposition Leader said that the parties should be fully prepared for the elections.
Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday Soren said, “The grand alliance has not been announced formally in the State and it is the duty of nationalised parties to come forward in this regard. Our main aim is to keep away BJP from the power.
The party is still trying to prevent BJP from power. It is a matter of all the parties of the alliance. We are at the regional level. The JMM has always advocated to bring in the fold all likeminded parties in the grand alliance such as Congress, RJD, Left and regional parties of Jharkhand.”
Stressing on the issue to announce shape of the grand alliance the JMM leader said, “The party is always trying to prevent division of votes in the elections. Opposition parties must come on at one platform to prevent BJP to form Government in the State and the Centre. The results of Kolebira bye elections will not affect the grand alliance. The opposition parties must meet at its earliest and form an agreement because people should know.”
While congratulating the Congress on victory of Kolebira bye election Soren said the party extended its support to Jharkhand Party (JP) Candidate Menon Ekka in the by election because the JP founder NE Horo had very good rapport with the party Supremo Shibu Soren and both the leaders had great contribution in the Jharkhand Movement.
It is just not the matter of political gain or loss it is most important for the party to follow the direction of Guru ji (Shibu Soren).
“We have to keep the momentum to prevent BJP from coming to power in the State and centre. There is no leadership issue as the strongest party’s leader would be leader of the alliance. When asked at how many seats the JMM will contest in the upcoming general elections Soren replied that at present he can’t say anything on the issue but he can say on the basis of capability and political hold of the party it will decide its future action and plan.
Talking about the future plan he said, talks are going on we have to meet with other partners of the grand alliance. We are not in favour of closed chapters because it will create more confusion in this regard. Our main aim is to prevent division of votes, Soren added.
On the State Assembly Session which will start from Monday the Leader of Opposition said there are a large number of burning issues which they will raise.
