Grand Alliance has no hold in State: Shahdeo

State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Wednesday that the Opposition parties have once again started their drama on the name of Grand Alliance; however in reality they have lost their hold in the State.

Criticising the Opposition parties State BJP Spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that a constituent party of the Grand Alliance Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM), became depleted in the last election. “Its supremo Babulal Marandi had been badly defeated in Koderma with more than four and half lakh votes. This was the fifth election defeat of Babulal ji. No former Chief Minister has such a record. If exceptions left he won very few elections after leaving BJP. What has happened to him and JVM, it is not hidden to anyone,” he added.

Shahdeo said that the second component of the alliance is Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). “Former State RJD Chief, Annapurna Devi, along with the other senior leaders joined BJP just before the Lok Sabha election after that, the remaining leaders in the RJD formed a separate party. Congress contested seven seats in the last elections and won only in Chaibasa and badly defeated in all remaining six seats. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Supremo, Shibu Soren, on whose name the party used to get vote in the entire State, also lost the election. These examples clearly show that the Grand Alliance no more exists in Jharkhand,” he added.

Speaking on the poll prospect of the Opposition parties Shahdeo said that the Grand Alliance is nothing but a group of disappointed and defeated leaders. “In the last elections, the alliance was in full swing to win all the 14 seats but for the first time in the history of Jharkhand, the BJP won more than four lakh votes in 4 out of 14 seats. It shows that the people of Jharkhand have given full support to the Central Government Policies and development works of the Raghubar Government in the State. The goal of winning the 65 plus seats of the NDA in the forthcoming Assembly elections is sure to be fulfilled,” he added.
