Gram Sabha fails to end deadlock for Hindalco

Published on:

The gram sabha called for getting no objection from the villagers of Pandu and Baliya villages of Keredari block, where Hindalco’s coal mine is proposed, ended with no result.

The meeting started in both the villages in the presence of company’s officials, block officials, village local body representatives and villagers. The villagers demanded the paper of companies policy of CSR activity, compensation etc.

The company officials first tried to escape from this demand but when block officials also stressed on making it public they took some time saying that in next meeting they will present the details. After this the gram sabha was postponed.

Hindalco has got Dumri coal block in Keredari block for which it has already got forest land clearance. Now it only needs no objection of

villagers of some villages of the block for government land measuring about 9.62 acres.
