Encouraged by getting labeled as third best State for ‘ease of doing business’ in the country, Jharkhand Government is also trying to replicate the success in the field of ‘start-up and stand-up’ initiative. Taking the idea of sheltering incubation centers at universities and professional institutes forward, now even private facilities coming up the State would be seen doubling as that.
Dropping a hint about this, Director, Industries, K Ravi Kumar said that the Department was working in that direction. “The State Government has taken some steps to encourage and support the start-up programme. Besides coming up with a policy, we are also going to set up venture capital fund which would not be just another department with the Government. Incubators for honing fresh ideas coming in are on the way in universities which would also be extended to the private institutes as well coming up in good number here,” said the official while speaking at Assocham’s ‘Start-up and Stand-up India’ summit on Friday.
He went on suggesting that desirable ecosystem for the initiative, ideated and aggressively pushed by the Centre, would be in place at the State in next three months’ time. Ravi Kumar, on the occasion, also said that the Government was working to have a local centre of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion in Ranchi.
Also present on the occasion was Principal Secretary in Higher and Technical Education Ajoy Kumar Singh who stressed on education institutions to speed up as incubation centers.
“Universities and colleges are the best places where innovations with all possibilities and viabilities can be explored. Besides several varsities and institutes, we have three more private universities coming up here. At Government front, we have our vision-2020 under which 100 more new colleges are going to be set up the State,” said he.
Prabal Sen, Chairperson of Entrepreneurship Development Centre at XlRI, while lauding the idea, also pointed out to the difficulties coming in the way of start-up programmes.
