Underlining the importance of minor forest produces, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the lives and livelihood of lakhs of poor tribal families of Jharkhand are dependent on this only.
“Main source of income for people residing in far flung areas, especially tribals and those into lower income strata are only the forest produces. This is their means of employment. Our Government wants to generate more employment options and income for them through encouraging collection of produces like tamarind, lac, karanj etc. The advisory committee has decided to hike purchasing price of certain wood items defined under Section 6 of the Jharkhand Forest Produce (trade) rules, 1984 by four per cent in comparison of 2017,”said the CM on Thursday during a meeting of the committee.
