Govt urges people to portray good impression of State

The Government has urged the citizens to take the opportunity of two days of Global Investor Summit (GIS) to change the perception of people from across the globe about Jharkhand for years and decades to come. Unfolding the plans about GIS scheduled to be organised on February 16-17 this year under Momentum Jharkhand, Industry and Mines Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal said that the business fraternity from within the country and overseas would know the State exactly the way they see, perceive and offered to perceive.

This is the first time that Jharkhand is ready to host investors’ summit on such a scale. Barnwal said that over 10,000 of delegates, 400 exhibitors, over 200 of business tycoons from national and global business arena and thousands of visitors in two days are expected to come across brainstorming sessions about investment opportunities in the State, its investment-worthiness and an entirely other side of laborious, skilled and ready-to-be-prosperous Jharkhand.

“It is all about the perception created during those two days. It is not that we will not come across any demerit in the States who have been hosting similar programmes and attracting investors since years, if we decide to reside there for some time. But we go for two-three days or for a week as a tourist and return with whatever we have been given to think. This is exactly what we also have to do if we want people from across the globe to think good about us, the residents of Jharkhand and the Jharkhand as an investment destination,” said Barnwal while revealing entire plan about the summit, which is expected to cost Rs 16-17 crores to exchequer. Around 150 exclusively invited guests, including business tycoons and industry leaders will be given power dinner by CM Raghubar Das on January 15 evening, prior to inauguration of the event.

Barnwal said that the government had been meeting and sitting with taxi and auto union people and all those who would create the first impression upon delegates. “We are giving training to them, because anyone going to any city loves to talk about the city, State and people with the auto or taxi-drivers from airport to hotel, or during any other time. We have also asked to train hotel staff, so that they leave good impression on guests,” said Barnwal. He added that liaisoning Officers, trainee IAS and JAS officials and whosesoever others scheduled to be attached with foreign delegates were being trained to be foremost hospitable during the summit.

“The preparations of GIS which were on since last one year are in final stages. Different road shows organised on foreign soils last year by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, and others by State delegation were part of preparations of the business conclave itself,” said Barnwal. The event which is being organised in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as National Partner, Ernst and Young (EY) as Knowledge Partner and Adfactors PR as Communications Partner will also have support of at least 11 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and State Government Undertakings.

The event scheduled to be inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will also have presence of Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu, Piyush Goel, Smriti Irani, Jayant Sinha and Sudarshan Bhagat on February 16. Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman is expected to attend the summit on concluding session on February 17 in Khelgaon area. The entire area will have free wi-fi access during the summit.

Barnwal said that the government simplified dozens of regulations to make them business-friendly apart from bringing 15 new regulations in to attract investment in the State. “We have identified fresh ready to use land taking our ready to offer land bank up to One lakh Hectare. However, we are not focusing on investment in value terms. We are focusing quality and labour-intensive industries, so that the people of Jharkhand get job through fresh incoming investments,” said Barnwal.
