Govt uninterested in running session: Cong

After spoiling all its opportunities of serious discussions in slamming Government interests and House disruptions inside Assembly during ongoing Budget Session, the Congress legislative Party leader Alamgir Alam on Sunday questioned the budgetary expenditure, revenue and allocation data outside the House. Alam said in a press conference at JPCC State Office that the way the Government behaved in Assembly was clear indication that it was unwilling to run session.

From budgetary expenditure during current financial year (2017-18) and revenue collected by the end of December 2017 to extra burden of three supplementary budgets meanwhile, Alam questioned Government’s approach towards social sector and said that Government machinery responsible for expenditure to take place was not working at all. “Against budgetary allocation of Rs 75,000 Crores for entire financial year ending in March 2018, the government could make expenditure of only Rs 37,000 Crores in first nine months which is not even half of the total allocation. Revenue collection figure is dreading, as the government could collect merely Rs 7,800 Crores in first six months of financial year against target of around Rs 28,000 Crores for financial year,” charged Alam.

Surprisingly, the party didn’t raise demands of removal of Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma and DGP DK Pandey during press conference and kept itself around budgetary figures and allegedly non-performing Government.

Notably, the party along with other opposition parties has not allowed the Assembly to function during whole last week over alleged charges of corruption and misconduct by two senior most officials of the Government.

However, Alam said that it was responsibility of Government to run the House, while the opposition was meant to raise questions of common people.

“It is responsibility of the Government to reply all those questions with utter seriousness. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to happen,” said Alam.

Contrary to this, it has used merely 23 percent of budgetary allocation in first nine months of financial year. At the same time, Jharkhand fell to 16th position in country during 2015-16 in comparison to 11th position during 2013-14 on parameter of social sector expenditure. It clearly means government needs to increase expenditure allotted for social sector,” said Alam where party leaders including Suryakant Shukla, Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, lal Kishore Nath Shahdev, Ravindra Singh and others were also present.
