Amidst coronavirus outbreak, Deoghar District Administration is waiting for State Government's permission to hold the upcoming world famous Shrawani Mela-2020, starting from July 5, at Baba Baidyanath Temple.

The District Administration starts preparation in advance as crores of devotees gather at the pilgrimage every year. Deoghar Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Vishal Sagar inspected the Baba Baidyanath Temple on Thursday and took information regarding security, uninterrupted power supply, various repair works and others.

During his inspection, Sagar said that every possible effort is being made by the Government to prevent the infection of Coronavirus. In such a situation, the decision of whether or not to organize the Shravani Mela in Deoghar will be taken by the State Government and the Shrine Board.

In spite of all necessary preparations related to uninterrupted power supply, security system, various repair works and others have been started on behalf of the District Administration and Temple Administration, so that no problems of any kind arise in the coming days.

For this, various repair works are being done as necessary in the temple premises and its surrounding areas. At the same time, a framework is being prepared in view of the security arrangements that if the gate of the temple opens for the common devotees and the ShravaniMela is organized, then by following the social distancing, the devotees can worship the almighty.

“For this, every effort is made that if the Shravani fair is organized this year, better and better facilities should be provided to the devotees and social distancing should be strictly followed,” said Sagar.

The Union Home Ministry issued a guideline for opening of religious places from June 8. According to the guideline issued by the Ministry of Health, devotees will have to take off their shoes outside the religious places.

Restriction on touching the wall of the temple, statue, bell and other materials will remain.

Entrance to the temple will be allowed only after putting on the mask. There will be a temperature check at the entrance.

There will also be a ban on organizing bhajans and other programmes in the group on the pilgrimages premises. Instructions have also been given to take precaution regarding the distribution of Prasad or organizing Bhandara.

It is evident that following the guidelines of the Union Health Ministry, many arrangements may be made regarding the arrangement of worship and organizing of Shrawani Mela at Baba temple in Deoghar.
