In order to make younger generation digitally literate, the State Government is going to organise a special drive from August 1 to August 20 across the State. The drive would be concentrated in high schools and has fixed a target to teach at least 10 lakh students.
Informing about the drive, Information Technology and e-Governance Secretary Satyendra Singh said that the training would help the school pass outs in accessing online facilities, especially helping their career.
“The idea is to make at least one person of a household digitally literate. We have targeted all the high schools for this and 10 lakh students of class10 would be provided 20 hours of training about computer, internet etc. They would be made comfortable with internet services so that they can fill online forms and avail other services provided online,” said the official at a press conference on Monday.
The selected students would be trained through ‘e-preraks’ or trainers before and after their class hours. “Resource personnel from Udan, teachers and college students would be taken to work as ‘e-preraks’. Entire process is being linked with Aadhaar. Those trained would have to pass an online exam and will be given a certificate. The trainers would be paid Rs 300 in their bank accounts for each student clearing the exam,” added the Secretary.
This apart, the Department is also working to provide internet connectivity to all 32,000 villages. “782 mobile towers have been installed with the help of BSNl which are now being developed as wifi hotspots. Still, 3600 villages are left out. Another 901 towers are being installed for that,” said Singh.
He also stressed that all the block offices are going to house Aadhaar enrolment centres since the facility has to be provided at the Government premises only as per the directions. Till date, 260 such centres have been made functional where the enrolment and updation are done free of cost.
Talking about promotion of Startups in rural areas, the Secretary said that awareness camps have been organised in nine districts for gathering innovative ideas. More than 3,000 candidates took part in the camps where 231 ideas were presented for selection.
“We have also started working on cyber security and signed an MoU with C-DAC to setup 24 cyber police stations and forensic labs. Four Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) have been setup in which the park at Ranchi is working with its full capacity. 28 companies are functional here and the park is having turnover of over Rs 100 crore. 85-90 per cent of the softwares developed here are exported,” added Singh.
