Buoyed over the huge number of investment proposals received during the Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) under Momentum Jharkhand on February 15-17, the Government has moved a step ahead towards forming a separate Investor Promotion Agency in the State named Momentum Jharkhand Private limited.

Industry and Information Technology (IT) and e-Governance Department Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal said on Sunday that the agency will look after anything and everything regarding attracting and facilitating investment proposals.

Announcing proposed groundbreaking ceremony of 21 industrial units among 210 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during Global Investors’ Summit which is scheduled on Thursday this week by Chief Minister Raghubar Das in Hotwar, Barnwal said that these industries which are investing over Rs 725 Crores in total would generate at least 21,184 direct employment opportunities once they would be operational within six months.

“Within 90 days of GIS, we are successful in bringing 21 industrial units to groundbreaking ceremony level which are expected to be operational within 6 months from now. The CM will also inaugurate operation of three industrial units on the day,” said Barnwal.

“Our concerted effort making Jharkhand one of the best investment destinations since last year has started showing results with investment proposals being translated into reality. The government did road shows in and out of country before GIS, followed by investor facilitation programmes in Mumbai, Bangluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and New Delhi to see investment proposals turning into reality. All these efforts have brought us to a day, when we are going to organise a groundbreaking ceremony of 21 industrial units at one go, added with inauguration of three units,” Barnwal added, where Industries Director K Ravi Kumar and Public Relations Department Director Rajiv lochan Bakshi were also present. The eight sectors in which 19 top corporate from across the country are going to invest include textiles, food and feed processing, waste management, pharmaceuticals, health, footwear, warehousing and logistics. These are spread across Hotwar, Chandil, Ranchi, Nagri, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and surrounding areas.

largest among them is of Orient Craft limited, which is going to invest over Rs 200 Crores for footwear manufacturing unit with employing over 15,000 work forces alone. “The unit will distribute 200 appointment letters to those youth from State which have been working in other states, making their dream of coming home true,” said Barmwal.

Meanwhile, the CM will also inaugurate Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) on Monday in presence of Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Anant Kumar, which is being established at a cost of 51.32 Crores in Hehal near SIRD. Barnwal said that the institute will be established with assistance from State government.

“We will contribute 50 per cent, or Rs 22 crores of Rs 44 crores direct investment required for the project. We have already provided the centre a sum of Rs 8.66 Crores and 14.36 Acres of land. The institute will provide training to 1,500 students in opening batch among which 1,200 will be enrolled in 6 month’s certificate course for absolutely free.

At the same time, 300 students will be enrolled in 3 year’s Diploma course with a nominal semester course fee of around Rs 22,000,” said Barnwal. CIPET Director General said on the occasion that the institute targeted to provide training to 3,000 students in second year and 5,000 in third year.
