State Government has planned to develop Sakchi Jail, presently occupied by 157 Battalion of CRPF, into a jail exclusively for female inmates.
Jharkhand State counsel Rishi Pallav on Wednesday submitted in Jharkhand High Court that there was a plan to develop Sakchi Jail in Jamshedpur as all female Jail where only female inmates from across the State will be kept. The proposal has already been sent to the Home Department for approval, he added.
The court was hearing a PIl initiated suo-motto on the directives of Supreme Court which had instructed all high courts to monitor the condition of jail inmates in their respective states.
