The State Government is mulling to bring a separate policy meant to revive old, sick and stagnant industries present in a large number in Jharkhand. Industry Department in association with different stakeholders would work in building right atmosphere in this direction.
Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma in a meeting with Industry Department and Jharkhand Small Scale Industry representatives on Friday stressed on building atmosphere for the flow of investment directed to the State. “The Government is continuously working towards building better atmosphere for investment to come. Along with that, a dedicated policy for the promotion and revival of old and stagnant industries in the State would also be brought in,” said she.
In order to address unreliable coal supply issue with the small scale industries of the State, the Chief Secretary said that Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDC) would be strengthened more so that mineral based units can be promoted. Expertise of CCl would be taken for this.
“We are in the process of keeping a system in place where officials of AIADA, RIADA, BIADA etc would approach the industrialists and identify those areas where the problem lies. You people submit a detailed report mentioning the reasons behind closed or languishing units with the Industry Department so that a way out can be found,” said the Chief Secretary.
She also directed the Department to survey such sick units and find out why they are not performing and identify problem areas. Also, the list of items purchased by the Government through local small scale industries would be placed on the website.
“Soon, we are going to formulate a policy for purchasing such items so that local products can be given preference,” said Verma. Additional Chief Secretary UP Singh, Industry Director K Ravi Kumar along with Vikas Singh and Chandrakant Raipat from the industry association were present in the meeting.
