In the bid to promote and encourage the concept of new media platforms of payment among the different sections of the society, soon 48,000 Government schools functioning across the State imparting education to approximately 1.5 lakh kids will also adopt e-wallets and other electronic mediums of imbursement adding them in the league of going ‘cashless’. Interestingly, government school students will also be involved in the ambitious project to impart the knowledge of e-payments among School Management Committee (SMC) members constituted at village level to monitor several tasks.
The School Education and literacy Department will commence the training of SMC members from January 10 to encourage the ‘cashless’ modes of payment and to curb the loopholes in the existing Government schemes especially, Mid-Day Meal (MDM) component to provide benefits to the kids studying at Government cradles.
Notably, under the supervision of the district administration, the training of teachers and staffs have already begun. If all go well, the ‘cashless’ means of payment will initiate from January 2017 at all the Government schools for different Government schemes and subsidies.
At present, some schemes, including scholarship to meritorious candidates, provision of books and other resource materials to the Government students have been linked up with the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). However, education officials have claimed that after implementation of ‘cashless’ methodology, scheme like MDM will become significantly more transparent.
“The training of all SMCs will initiate from January 10. So far, from each district, 10 teachers have been given training in the different mediums of e-payments. The first phase of training is completed under the supervision of DCs. All the 50 trained nodal teachers will now impart training to the teachers at block level. The next round of training will be initiated after winter vacation,” said, Ranchi DSE, Shivendra Kumar.
Government high schools children will be involved in the project to cover maximum people. “All the teachers at block level have been instructed to train school kids (Class 5 to 12) in using electronic medium of payment. From each Government school 10 students from different class will be selected and will impart training to SMC members along with other resource personnel,” added Kumar.
Notably, launching the ‘Cashless’ mission from Nagri block on December 2, CM Raghubar Das had mentioned that the economy too requires to shift from cash-based to cashless, as the step will eradicate the middle men involvement and beneficiaries can uninterruptedly avail the schemes. Das asked all government officials to use cashless banking and train others as well for the same by involving anganwadi workers, school and college students, bank mitras to train public in adopting mobile banking and other e-payment medium.
