Govt schools in pitiable condition

Published on:

Members of Empower Jharkhand, an organisation working for social uplift of vulnerable sections of society, on Tuesday conducted on the spot survey of Government schools in Rahe and Sonahatu blocks of Ranchi district. The team members found the schools in pitiable condition with lack of basic amenities and even proper drinking water and sanitation facilities.

At Rahe Block the team members visited Government Middle School where 210 students from class 1 to class 8 attend classes. The members found that the school doesn’t have proper drinking water facilities. There is only one hand pump in the school and it supplies impure water. The place where mid-day meal is prepared is filthy and the school lacks a boundary wall.

Similarly , Upgraded High School at Dokad in Rahe Block where students take education from class 1 to class 10 has only three teachers. There are less number of classrooms than required and the kitchen is in a pathetic state. let alone drinking water, the school does not even have electricity and students have to study in dark during cloudy weather. When the teams visited schools in Sonahatu block, they found that there was no rice for cooking mid day meal in a middle school. The school, where 300 students take education, doesn’t have a toilet.  Empower Jharkhand president, Aditya Vikram Jaiswal said that the future of the students was at stake so the administration should be ready for protest and movement.
