Govt ponders over Unlock-1 relaxations

In the face of a global pandemic, the State Government is evaluating the status-quo before following the guidelines issued by the Central Government on Unlock-1 and Lockdown-5.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren will soon make an announcement on the relaxations planned for Jharkhand, said Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon on Sunday.

The Central Government ended Lockdown 4 on Sunday and with this, Unlock-1 and Lockdown 5 will start from Monday which will continue till June 30.

The Centre also issued some guidelines regarding Unlock-1 on which the State Governments have to take a final decision on some matters.

Till the time of filling of this report, the coalition Government in the State, of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Indian National Congress (INC) and Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD), had not taken a final decision.

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) Chief, Rameshwar Oraon said that the party will stand with the decision taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

“We are evaluating the situation after that any decision will be taken as positive cases are increasing on daily basis and at the same time there is urgent need to provide employment to the people of the State,” he added.

However, Oraon said it is sure the State Government will follow maximum number of suggestions of the guidelines issued by the Central Government. “Restrictions are also required with special relaxation. There will not be any relaxation on containment zone. To increase trade and business activity in the State the Government will provide relief in many areas,” he added.

JPCC chief said the people will have to make a habit of living with the Coronavirus and at the same time eke out a living. There is speculation that the State Government will follow the Central Government’s guideline on Unlock-1 and Lockdown-5.

The situation outside the Containment Zone is now expected to be completely normal. It is also reported that all commercial establishments will now be fully opened, which were closed during the lockdown period, they will also be allowed to open.

JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the lockdown should be extended. “More restrictions are needed now, as this is the peak hour of the Corona virus. However, relaxation in business activities is also necessary. An acute problem has arisen in front of the people who earn daily. The 20 lakh crore economic package of the central government is just a drama,” he added.
