A Minister level talk with para teachers’ delegation today moved  few inches with both the parties getting ready to compromise on certain issues. Representatives of para teachers associations today held a meeting with HRD Minister Neera Yadav late in the evening to find a solution to the long drawn strike of around 67,000 para teachers in the State.

The Minister said after the meeting that the department is ready to negotiate with the teachers on certain demands but the department alone cannot take decisions on several other demands. “We will sit again in the presence of the Chief Minister, Ministers and officials of concerned departments after the offices open in the New Year. We will consider what can be done to solve the issues,” she said.

Sanjay Kumar, one of the representatives of the para teachers’ association said that their agitation still continues but the talks have moved in a positive direction. “We want remuneration on the model of Chhattisgarh but the department is unable to take such decision on its own. We will continue the talks after January 01 when the offices will open. Till then the strike remains as it was,” he said.

The para teachers issue has been haunting the State since long as 67,000 teachers are on indefinite strike for over 42 days crippling the primary education system in the State. The government was also cornered by the Opposition parties on the issue during the Winter Session of Assembly that ended on Thursday.
