Govt must take steps to tame JPSC: Speaker

Concerned over the questions raised on the credibility of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) repeatedly, Speaker Dinesh Oraon said that the government must take some steps to tame the JPSC.  The matter of JPSC was raised in the house on Thursday through an Adjournment Motion brought by MlA Rabindra Nath Mahto.

“The government must think over it that why questions are raised over the credibility of JPSC. Taking the matter seriously, the government must reply by tomorrow after Zero Hour,” said the Speaker. There must be some control kind of control over the JPSC or the House will have to take some decision, added the Speaker. Reacting on government’s answer that the matter was pending in court, Speaker questioned, “If everything will be sorted out in the court then what the House will doIJ”

Expressing concern over future of the aspirants appearing in JPSC exams, leader of opposition Hemant Soren demanded that the matter be first investigated by the vigilance department only then the appointment of candidates should be made.

“It is really a serious matter. Students this time have qualified in serial numbers in the same subject, who also belong to the same coaching institute. It has never happened earlier that cutoff marks was declared before the final results, but a list of rejected candidates have been issued by the JPSC during the fifth JPSC,” said Soren. It raises serious doubts over the possibility of some bungling during the interview, he added.

According to Soren, a person can only pass or fail in civil services, the commission has now started a new trend by rejecting the candidates, which is unfortunate. Reacting over the excuse given by the Treasury Benches that the matter was pending before the court hence nothing could be done from their side, Soren said that the JPSC misled the Government.

Earlier, as soon as the proceedings of the House was started on Thursday, Congress MlA Nirmala Devi sat on dhana inside the house demanding immediate release of her husband Yogendra Sao who has been put into jail after being imposed Crime Control Act (CCA) on him. She however, agreed to go back to her seat after the leaders from opposition parties requested her to do so.

JVM MlA Pradeep Yadav requested the government to rethink over the issue as CCA is imposed on the will of the government. People sitting on the treasury benches went up on their toes for some time after the Badkagaon MlA said that, “If CM is really honest, he should get this case investigated by forming a special investigation team (SIT).” The CM however, replied that the government was of the view that there should not be criminalization of politics in the state.

CM, replying to an issue of illegal cutting of tree under the supervision of CO at Markaccho Block of Koderma raised by Pradeep Yadav, assured the house that action against the official will be taken within 72 hours after proper investigations.

Yadav also raised the issue of corruption charges over director in charge of horticulture mission Prabhakar Singh posted in Deoghar but no action has been taken so far against him. The government accepting the fact that some kind of irregularity has definitely been found against the official assured that the action will be taken against him.

Reacting on the demand raised by Soren that the CM must assure that action will be taken against the official during this session only, Das said that the Principal Secretary of concerned department will look into the matter and the matter will again be put in the house on Monday.

“My government wants to provide corruption free government to the people and if anyone found guilty, will never be spared,” said the CM.

Bringing cut motion over second supplementary budget tabled in the house, Yadav questioned that how will the government spend the remaining 60 funds in the next three months, if it has not yet been able to spend 40 per cent of the funds in the last nine months. The cut motion however, was rejected by the house.

Amid opposition’s boycott, second supplementary budget was also passed in the house.
