Former Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari stressed on improving the deteriorating condition of State-run schools on Tuesday. He said that the State Government should work towards proper teaching and academic ambience in the existing Government schools instead of announcing four new such schools in each district.
“Students hailing from economically weaker sections are still deprived from teaching due to lack of dedicated teachers,” he said this during the new campus inauguration of Springdales, a play school in the state capital.
Namdhari who was also associated with some school committees pointed on the 25 percent enrollment of Below Poverty line (BPl) students in both government and private schools as per the guidelines of Right to Education (RTE) Act.
“There is a lot of disparity in the education system. Private schools will have to realise that they are not running business in the name of education. Besides, reducing fees for BPl students, they should provide free hostel facilities for such students,” said the Veteran Politician.
Interestingly, Namdhari connected the education of play school as the basic education of a person’s life. He said, “During my tenure of Assembly Speaker, I came across legislators whose Hindi vocabulary was weak. This clearly indicates that if fundamentals are not clear, it will later create problems.”
Former CM Hemant Soren related to the facility crunch in government schools where most of the teaching and non-teaching staffs hesitate to go.
Similarly, Bharagora legislator Kunal Sarangi said the state since its formation around 14 years back, is facing teaching and infrastructural hurdles. He applauded the management of Springdales for not increasing the fee since its establishment in 1983.
Meanwhile, Hatia legislator Navin Jaiswal appreciated the school and hoped that it will open more branches in the coming years.
Notably, Springdales including baby pre-nursery, pre-nursery and nursery has been functioning at Hinoo. The new state-of-art building is near to the old campus. Apart from SMART class, the classes in the new campus are temperature controlled and will cover thematic curriculum after every one week. The 2015 academic session will commence from April 17.
Official sources confirmed that classes for a play group comprising students within the age of 1.5 to 2 years will be starting from the upcoming session along with the three mentioned kindergarten classes. School Principal Kiran Shaw said that there are plans of catering the underprivileged children.
