The Jharkhand Government is planning to ensure ‘special safety’ to woman teachers transferred in the far-off schools in the State. The Human Resources Development Department (HRD) will soon depute the teachers in schools located within five kilometre radius of a National Highway or village.

Also, the department is aiming to transfer High School teachers to another school after a span of every ten years. “We are worried for the safety of lady teachers and are planning to deploy them in schools which are situated within five kilometre radius of a National Highway or village,” HRD Minister Geetashree Oraon said during a State level felicitation of 121 teachers from five administrative divisions including Santhal Pargana, South Chotanagpur, North Chotanagpur, Kolhan and Palamau at Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Teacher’s Day on Friday.

Website of Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan mentions the participation of 44 teachers from district level and 77 teachers of block level in the felicitation ceremony.

Besides, putting efforts for the teachers, state government is urging to establish quality education in the schools benefitting both the teachers as well as students. The respective matter was focused by Oraon during the programme at JAC and in a similar programme at Ranchi University wherein around 50 retired university teachers were honored.

Notably, students admitted in private schools charging a large amount of fees produce better results than those students pursuing studies in government schools providing free education. “In order to provide quality education in all the schools, it is important to create a studious environment like private schools in the government schools as well,” HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik said.

Oraon on the other hand said, “Government is spending crores towards the development of government schools. But, the result is not as expected due to lack of quality education in the schools.”

Meanwhile, schools across the state celebrated Teacher’s Day with joy and fervor. Cultural Programmes were presented by students in various schools. Dr Ram Singh, Principal of Delhi Public School, Ranchi paid tribute to second President of India Dr S Radhakrishnan who was also a renowned teacher. Since 1962, his birth anniversary is celebrated as Teacher’s Day.
