Food and Civic Supply Minister, Dr Rameshwar Oraon started the paddy purchase procurement scheme on Thursday through video conferencing in the entire State For financial year 2022-23, a target has been set to procure eight lakh metric tonnes of paddy.
At his residence, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon started the target of paddy procurement in the presence of DSOs, lamps, packs and farmers of all the districts of the state regarding the purchase of paddy, on the spot the farmers are giving paddy to the Government by taking the paddy directly to the LAMPS and PACKS.
Meanwhile, the DSO has requested to revise the target keeping in view the drought situation in 226 block, Oraon said that the department is considering it.
Departmental Secretary Himani Pandey, SFC Director Jatin Prasad, Under Secretary Satish Chandra Chowdhary were present on the occasion of paddy procurement launching.
On this occasion, the Food Supply Minister said that farmers have to get the benefit of MSP, farmers are not able to deliver their grains in the market and they do not stand anywhere in the competition, they get very low prices for their grains. Rs 1400-1500 per quintal traders buy paddy from farmers every year, due to which the farmers suffer huge losses, he added.
“In order that the farmers get the benefit of MSP, we give them Rs. 2050 per quintal i.e. Rs. 500 more. Every year on 15th December, the government starts this scheme, all the DSOs and field officers have been urged to do the same as last year,” said Oraon. He said that 97 per cent of the target was met in the last financial year, this time also the set target has to be met, 226 blocks are drought affected, paddy is less this time, so there is a need to reduce the target as requested by the DSO.
Oraon has appealed to the farmers to take advantage of the Government's MSP, 50 per cent of the paddy price will be paid immediately and 50 per cent will be paid when the paddy goes to the rice mill. “There is no shortage of money. Earlier there was shortage of money but from last year the Government has arranged money and no farmer needs to worry about money. 50 per cent amount will be paid immediately and 50 per cent rice mill Will get after going in. That's why farmers are requested to fearlessly deliver paddy in their nearest LAMP and PACKS and take advantage of MSP,” he added.
