Paving way even further for corporate houses in the field of technical education the State Government has entered into an agreement with Adhunik Group backed Orissa Manganese and Mineral limited to open five new ITIs in the State. Department of labour, Employment and Training on Thursday signed a MoU in this regard.

The ITIs would be opened at Khunti, Chandil, Chakulia (East Singhbhum), Bundu and Seraikela-Kharsawan and run on PPP mode. The company would upgrade, operate, manage and maintain the training institutes. M/S Swami Vivekanand Training Centre is the concessionaire for all the five that also include one for women.

For Khunti, Chandil, Seraikela-Kharsawan and Bundu the corporate major would pay premium ranging from Rs 1 lakh to 3 lakh while one at Chakulia would be given grant of Rs 5 lakh from the Government for opening the training institutes. The provision for grant for operating any ITI is for the areas where no player show interest in opening the institute considering hostility, backwardness or insufficient infrastructure available.

Speaking to the reporters later, Minister for labour, Employment and Training Chandrashekhar Dubey said that the Government plans to open ITIs in every area of the State. “When Jharkhand separated from Bihar the number of ITIs was 12. later on ten more were added. At present we have taken it upto 49 and want to cover every area of Jharkhand,” said the Minister.

He also stressed upon migration of labour from the State in search of jobs and assured that the Government would be working now to ensure job to the trained persons. “Outsiders indulge in exploitation of migrating labourers as we have less job opportunities here in the State. We would work in this direction that private companies operating here should take trained youths,” said Dubey adding that number of seats at Bokaro would be raised from present 100 to 150.

Sumeet Mittal of the company said that the ITIs would provide workforce required. “We are operating in the State as well in neighbouring States. By entering into an agreement with the Government we would be getting trained and qualified workforce for the industry in general besides fulfilling our in-house need. This is a good initiative.”

Out of the five ITIs the building of the four except Chandil are complete and would be handed over at earliest. Session at the institutes is expected to start from February 2014. JIS Foundation- Centum learning ltd has qualified for two more ITIs, one at Bahragora and another at Khunti while for three others at Hazaribagh, Ghatshila and Gumla the firm remained the lone bidder. Agreement for those institutes would take place later.
