In a major fillip to crucial healthcare and power sectors in the State Government has sanctioned Rs 1905 crore for setting up four 500-beded hospitals and Rs 1200 for new transmission lines in the command areas under the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). The decisions were taken in a Cabinet meeting held on Friday.
Informing about this, Principal Secretary SKG Rahate said the hospitals would be attached with the coming up medical colleges at Dumka, Hazaribagh and Palamu.
"Each of the three new medical colleges to be built at Dumka, Hazaribagh and Palamu is to be attached with a 500-bed hospital. The Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 448 crore for Dumka, Rs 509 crore for Hazaribagh and Rs 481 crore for Palamu for the building constructions. This apart, another 500-bed hospital at the cost of Rs 429.28 crore has been allocated for MGM, Jamshedpur," said Rahate.
The Government has already approved the three new medical colleges in the State whose foundation stones are expected to be laid during State Foundation Day later this month.
This apart, the Cabinet also went ahead with the idea to erect its own power transmission lines in the six districts falling under the DVC command area thus far.
"New transmission lines through 14 projects would come up in Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Chaibasa, Koderma and Ramgarh at the cost of Rs 1200 crore. Six projects would come up with 90 per cent loan from NABARD while the State Government would acquire loan for the eight others. Rs 215 crore for the year 2017-18 has been released at the same time. The new lines would reduce our dependency on the DVC," added the official.
The Cabinet also granted Rs 206.54 crore for the Raksha Shakti University at Khunti and has amended the appointment guidelines for Sub Inspectors, State Industrial Security Force (SISF) and constables.
"The candidates passing out from the university would be given weightage in marks for the appointments as SI and constables. Also, the appointments are to be done for SISF that would take place as per the amended guidelines," said Rahate. Also, an apex medical board would come up to consider the challenged decisions of the medical board for such appointments.
The Cabinet has also decided to introduce Ward Development Centres in the urban local bodies in the lines of panchayat secretariat. Four volunteers for each ward would be selected of which at least one each would be woman and from SC/ST category. "The centres would work towards better management of the municipal bodies and help people in getting certificates for income, caste etc," said Rahate.
Also, a provision restricting Nagar Nigams to convene meeting if any no-confidence motion is pending against Mayor and Deputy Mayor has been amended to allow meeting to take place.
Amendments have also been made in its earlier decision about running polytechnic colleges. Three polytechnic colleges at Jagannathpur, Simdega and Dumka for women would now be run by the Government itself while they would be run under PPP mode at Jamtara, Chatra and Khunti.
