Govt finds teachers impressive during Shikshak Samvad

Human Resource Development (HRD) Secretary Aradhana Patnaik found teachers ‘impressive’ during the Shikshak Samvad that began on Saturday. The process related to direct phone conversation between a government school teacher and the Secretary. It will be organized on every second Saturday of a month.

“I made random calls to teachers of 24 districts. They were quite informed about the various programmes like CCE, Buniyad, Buniyad plus and Prayas carried out in the schools for ensuring quality education. Most of them informed that the attendance of students is more on the three days of the week when egg or fruits is served in the Mid Day Meal (MDM),” said Patnaik.

CM Raghubar Das had introduced the provision of egg or fruit in MDM few months back.

Apart from, CCE, Prayas and Buniyad, Patnaik asked the teachers how the schools can be improved, what all efforts are being taking, and hassles in developing the schools along with personal suggestions.

She has directed the teachers to discuss the conversation details with their colleagues and teachers of nearby schools for the sake of quality education.

Sources in HRD said, the two hours and 15 minutes conversation with the 24 teachers started at 10 am and concluded at 12:15 pm. “They were either from Primary, Upper Primary, Middle or Upgraded Middle Schools,” said a senior official at HRD.

Notably, the Secretary’s initiative is part of the steps taken for improving the academic atmosphere in government schools.  “The state government has denoted 2015-16 year for quality education. It is due to this reason, we are making consistent efforts on our part,” said Patnaik.

The names of the teachers who were called by Patnaik include Vinod Kumar Singh (Dhanbad), Meera Kumari (Bokaro), Nirmal Sardar (Saraikela), Kanan Patra (Jamtara), Priyavrath Tiwari (Sahebganj), Chandan Horo (Ranchi), Brahma (Dumka), Usha Kundu (Pakur), Pramila (Ramgarh), RN Choudhary (Koderma), Saryu Ram (Hazaribag), Sanjay Kumar Verma (Simdega), Poonam Kumari (Gumla), Subhra R Kujur (lohardaga), Anjana Kumari (Giridih), Sindhu Hembrom (East Singhbhum), Anil Kumar Singh (West Singhbhum), Kalawati Devi (Palamau), Neelam Kumari (Godda), Sumitra (Deoghar), Manoj Kumar Choubey (Chatra) and Arvind Kumar Dwivedi (Garhwa).

“It was a nice experience talking to the HRD Secretary. We discussed on the MDM served to the students and its benefits. She insisted us to conduct meetings with nearby school teachers and colleagues to take part in the development of school and also spread awareness among people,” said Chatra based teacher Manoj Kumar Choubey.
