As per the MET Observatory Centre, Ranchi, the residents of Jharkhand will continue to feel the heat for the next 48 hours as the temperature pattern is above normal this year causing severe heat wave condition. The monsoon is also expected to hit the State after June 20.

“Earlier it was expected that monsoon will hit the State around June 18 but now with a change in the situation, it will arrive after June 20. The low pressure system over the Arabian Sea is blocking the monsoon current, because of which monsoon is expected after June 20 in Jharkhand. The pre monsoon current is also getting obstructed, hence the thunderstorm activity and light rainfall has also decreased,” said SD Kotal, Director MET Centre- Ranchi.

According to the weather bulletin released by the MET Observatory Centre- Ranchi on June 11, the temperature in the State Capital was 6.6 degree above normal at 41 degree Celsius. Daltonganj was recorded at 46.4 degree where as Jamshedpur was at 41 degree which is 7.1 and 4.3 degree Celsius above normal respectively.

“The heat wave in western and central parts of Jharkhand will continue for the next 48 hours as well. This is because of the hot and dry air coming from Rajasthan that the temperature in these parts is high. Initially there was a wind coming in from the Bay of Bengal which has now stopped,” Kotal further added.

The minimum temperature in Ranchi was 25.4 degree Celsius which is 1.5 degree above normal. In Daltonganj and Jamshedpur, the minimum temperature was 3.2 and 3.3 degree above normal at 30.9 and 29.2 degree Celsius respectively.

As per the communiqué issued the maximum temperature in Ranchi and its surrounding areas for the next four days- June 12 to June 15 will remain at 41- 42 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature will be between 26- 28 degree Celsius.
