Govt committed to realising Gandhiji's dreams: Das

Reiterating that the State Government was committed towards making the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi come true, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has said that the 'Rise India' programme started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Gramodaya in Jamshedpur on April 24 will empower the panchayats across the country and people in the villages will be able to make schemes as per their requirements.

Das was addressing a gathering during a programme organized at Audrey House in Ranchi on Sunday on the completion of 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi's visit to Ranchi.

"A Panchayat Secretariat has also been set up in Jharkhand which will help in the development of the village besides helping the Mukhia. Chief Minister Entrepreneur Sakhi Mandals are also being formed to promote cottage and minor industries in the villages," said the CM.

Programme was started with garlanding on the photograph of Mahatma Gandhi by all dignitaries present during the programme and a drama, directed by Sanjan lal, was also staged.

The Chief Minister further added that Mahatma Gandhi always used to say that 'Suraaj' was also essential along with 'Swaraj' as the soul of India resides in villages and the country could not develop unless villages were developed.

"Gandhiji was of the view that the nation could be strengthened only by making villages self-reliant. His words are relevant even after 70 years of Independence, hence Jharkhand was committed towards making India a nation of his dreams," he added.

Das further said that one need not sacrifice his or her life today, but he will definitely have to work honestly for making this country a nation of Gandhiji's dreams.

"Only this will make our country a developed nation. One can pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in true sense by boycotting those who are trying to disturb the harmony in the State," said the CM.
