Beautiful Dokra art, Sohrai, Jadopatia designs, Paitkar, Kohver fine art and many more art forms of tribal land will come alive on the boundary walls of prominent Government buildings. With less than a month’s time all the Government-building walls in city will have, colourful tribal paintings spilled on it. Approximately, 40 creative people are decorating the walls with their innovative skills once only restricted to the villages in the State.

With the aim to promote both cleanliness and bring out the essence of tribal artifacts, all the Government walls will be decorated with vivid art forms and murals before Republic Day 2017. This is another major attempt of the Ranchi Municipal corporation (RMC) to rise on the standards of ‘Swacchta Sarvekshan’ initiated from January 4 at par with major cities like pink city, Chandigarh, city of Nawabs etc. and also to show a transformed face of the tribal heartland’s Capital City before Momentum Jharkhand Summit- A global investors meet.

From traditional designs to eye catching slogans based on the concepts of Beti Bachchao, Beti Padhao, Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, significant slogans on vaccination and other health related issues will be painted as well on the walls to educate the masses. Artists feel that these entire dying tribal knack concepts will again gain popularity and will be featured in different formats, if public are made aware about it.

“Certain tribal designs are on verge of extinction due to the negligence of both Government and the tribal groups that practise it. The initiative will help in recreation of all dying artifacts, if the city walls are adorned with it,” said, a Sohrai artist and Chairperson of Stambh NGO, Jaishree Indwar who been given the face-lift task to add on to the beauty of city.

Simultaneously, all the government school walls in Ranchi will also be adorned with the ethnic designs. “As per the instructions from the senior officials, we have been given the contract to decorate all Government school building too with different arts to make kids aware about their roots and State culture. We are planning to paint the walls with some general knowledge matter as well beside tribal knick knacks,” added Indwar.

To promote the near-extinct art forms among the people of the State, the Government had taken an initiative to paint important building walls in the State Capital with different art forms few days back. Already started with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and his residence, the painting initiative will now be extended to other places in the coming days.

The attempt is aimed to raise the bar in the ‘Swacchta Sarvekshan 2017’ race and likely to help RMC fetch better position in the competition where 500 cities from across the country are participating. “This is creative approach to maintain cleanliness, provide descent livelihood to the practitioners of tribal art forms and to showcase various tribal culture on city major government boundary walls that has almost lost its significance in our lives,” said, Deputy Mayor, Sanjiv Vijayawargia.
