Govt blinks, to issue fresh prelims result

The stalemate continuing between civil services aspirants and the JPSC for quite some time ended on Tuesday after the State Government decided to issue fresh results of the preliminary test (PT) held last year.

The Cabinet, accepting the demands of the aspirants, has opined that a fresh result be issued comprising all those reserved category candidates who have got marks equal to or more than the lowest scoring candidates of the unreserved category.

Informing about the development, Principal Secretary of Personnel Department Nidhi Khare on Tuesday said that the decision had been taken based on the opinion of the Advocate General.

“There were complaints about the JPSC-PT result 2016 suggesting that despite having got more marks than unreserved category candidates some of the reserved category candidates could not make it to the result published by the Commission. The Government had sought opinion of the AG which has come. It has been decided that all those reserved category candidates would be inducted into successful candidates list for the Mains exam who have scored equal to or more than the unreserved category candidates who came on the last position in the merit list,” said the official.

She, at the same time, also clarified that the mechanism found would not be applicable for other examination process continuing at present but would be followed in all such future examinations in which a provision of preliminary test is there.

“It is obvious that the decision would make to qualify more candidates than the permissible limit which is 15 times of the vacancy. The provision would be relaxed for this time. Also, since the matter is under consideration of the High Court as well, the Government would apprise the court about the decision,” added Khare.

Notably, thousands of unsuccessful candidates were agitating since the publication of result demanding its cancelation citing the anomalies and few others.

The Cabinet, in the meantime, also approved the draft of the State GST, 2017 which  would be tabled in the special Assembly session called on April 27. “Special Assembly session has been called on April 27 and the Cabinet has approved putting the Bill in the House,” said Cabinet Secretary SS Meena.

The Secretary also added that two per cent hike had been done in the rate of DA for State Government employees and pensioners which would be applicable from January 1, 2017.

Another decision related to fixing utility fee for other Departments for using roads as ‘right of way’ has been taken which has brought charges in all the areas at uniform level. Now, the Road Construction Department would charge Rs 340 per square meter for allowing any pipeline, cable etc to pass, irrespective of urban or rural localities.
