Governor of Jharkhand, Droupadi Murmu on Thursday praised IPS Officers’ Wives’ Association (IPSOWA) for helping junior police officials and their dependents by funds generated during “Diwali Mela” which is being organised by the association. Murmu inaugurated the fest on Thursday.
The Governor expressed that even as on one hand the IPS officers are discharging their duties with utmost sincerity their wives are active in social work.
Governor praised the association and said the practice of spending the proceeds of the fest on the meritorious children of junior police officials especially their girl child, differently-abled children, on improving health conditions of junior police officials, dependents and for the welfare of school going children of martyred police officials brings a great deal of pleasure.
“While on one hand this would help people in need on the other hand it will encourage competition among students to seek education,” added the Governor.
The Governor maintained that women have proven their talent when bestowed with opportunity whether in the field of social work or others and IPSOWA is an example of it however it also an irony that superstitions like witchcraft, untouchability still exists in the society.
She asserted that these will end through education, awareness and said that she would like IPSOWA to educate women and play important part in spreading awareness among people.
The Governor pinned hope on the association that they will continue their welfare schemes and will translate their schemes into action in future. She also said that the association should also help common man.
