The feeble weather condition and low rainfall, witnessed earlier in the month of June by the farmers of the State will be compensated in the days to come. As per Agro-Met experts, heavy rainfall in the State Capital and other adjoining areas is boom for agriculture sector at present. The present weather condition is ideal for land preparation, sowing and fostering.
“The amount of rainfall including the present situation is ideal for cultivation and will result in bumper production of seasonal crops and vegetables. Since during the pre-monsoon shower, the farmers witnessed light rainfall and clear sky which was favourable for ploughing the land. At present the optimum soil moisture level is perfect for plants growth. If this condition prevails, it will be beneficial for Kharif crops production. As per the prevailing condition, July and August will also yield better result for the agriculture sector,” said, Dr A Wadood Agriculture Scientist at Birsa Agriculture University (BAU).
“Stagnant water may create some problem for specific plants. To evade such situation, proper drainage is required to avoid water stagnation in fields especially those where different vegetables are planted. For paddy field, stagnant water is suitable for plant growth. In Jharkhand, upland cultivation of maize and other vegetables are ideal and water stagnation problem is also addressed in a better way through this method,” Wadood added.
On the other hand, the weather condition is likely to be same in the coming days, as the south-west monsoon has been active over Jharkhand. “The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through various regions including north east to Bay of Bengal and extends up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level. The system of upper air cyclonic circulation over north Jharkhand and neighborhood has merged with the monsoon trough.
Trough line, three sided cloud are main reasons for the present weather condition and is expected to continue in the coming days too,” said, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi observatory, Director, BK Mandal.
“Heavy rainfall is expected in almost every part of the state, as per the prevailing condition. light to moderate rainfall at most places occurred over the state during past 24 hours,” Mandal added.
On Sunday, highest maximum temperature of 33.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Chaibasa and lowest minimum temperature of 21.5 degree Celsius was registered in the state capital and at Jamshedpur.
