When granite was taken for gold! In a non-descript village Banai under Palamu’s Panki police station a labourer Bijay Singh was assaulted as he had got a slab of granite. The other labourers working with him thought that granite to be gold and soon tongues began to wag about Singh getting a huge slab of gold.
This incident is of January 29. Bijay Singh had no inkling that he was painted as the richest man by those with whom he worked and every one began to envy him. None liked him to become rich.
On the night of January 31/February 1 Bijay Singh was taken into custody by some ruffians and he was brought down to a jungle near Bakoria where he was badly roughed up all for the gold.
Bijay said he had no gold but granite he was thrashed mercilessly. His tormentors thought Bijay was hiding truth. Bijay sustained severe assault. Probationer DSP Panki Pawan Kumar has confirmed this episode saying labourer Bijay Singh got a granite slab which his labourers took for gold, spread this canard which led to his captivity and thrashing as well.
The DSP said Bijay Singh has reached home and is recovering the pain of beating. Police will swing into action once the written complaint comes to the police. The police will corner Bijay’s other labourers as they are the villains of piece. Their calculated lies of granite being gold had traumatised Bijay’s life, admitted the local police.
