At least 58 villages of 13 block of the district were declared open deflection free (ODF) by the district administration here on Sunday. The administration organised ODF rally in presence of all district level monitor, MlA, MP, block development officer, UNICEF members and huge masses of the society on Sunday morning.
A cultural progamme including Nukkad-natak, Marathon, Bhajan mandla, painting competition, cleanness campaign, paint my toilet activities were also performed during the event.
The programme has began organised to ensure the community participates in attaining a clean and green environment, said DC, Giridih Uma Shankar Singh, adding that this is the first time in the Giridih district where such a large number of villages were made ODF with the help of community, and also we are targeting 200 more villages to be ODF in the next two months ,we hope they continue spreading the cleanses message, Singh added.
Giridih DC, Uma Shankar said that the incentive of approx 6 lakhs were distributed among Jal-sahiya for observing the use of toilet and behavioral change of the beneficiaries.
The rally started from the block offices and passed through major thoroughfares of the area and later turned into a public meeting for awareness about ODF and DC drew the attention of the villagers.
