Gift bonanza to trackers in PTR on International Tiger Day

Published on:

It was a gift bonanza to trackers in the tiger reserve Palamu on the international tiger day. Many got bicycles to be shared among them. Many got things like uniforms and gumboots. Torch, rain coat and tiffin box were also given.

Chief conservator of forest and field director PTR Kumar Ashutosh said "Our trackers are our strength. We treat them as members of the PTR."

"On this great global tiger day we have given them things of daily utility like bicycles which were given in the Garu and Bareysanr ranges while in the Betla range things like uniform, jacket, tracking bag, tiffin etc were given."said Ashutosh.

"We have tigers now. They are fit and fine." added Ashutosh. They cross range as per their choice. PTR has in all 8 ranges. One range Kutku is the route to the tiger.

There were three occasions here when global tiger day was held but sans any tiger around in the tiger reserve.

2023 and 2024 are the years of satisfaction following the presence of the tigers here, he added.

Ashutosh reminded that March 2023 was the month of entry for the tiger here. Eight months later in November there were entries of two more tigers here.
The tigers do come in the camera traps.

He further reminded that all efforts are on to increase the prey base.

The imbalance in the prey base between the north division and south division of this tiger reserve has to be corrected by replenishing the prey base in the south division, he said.
