Ranchi’s two favourite tourist spots- Getalsud dam and Hundru fall- will be developed to provide more facilities to visiting tourists.

The State Tourism department, with the help of Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), is developing amenities such as parking spaces, toilets, stairs, drinking water facilities, tourist centre at Getalsud dam and Hundru fall.

“We have decided to make restaurant at these places too,” said Director Tourism, Siddharth Tripathy.

The ITDC, empanelled by the Tourism department, has initiated the process for selecting a suitable partner for developing the sites. The bidding process will culminate with awarding to the qualified bidder on June 12.

Expected to cost around Rs2.75 crore the amenities will help in generating more revenue from these tourist destinations which are part of river Subarnarekha.

While the Hundru fall is about 45 kms away from Ranchi, Getalsud dam is around 40 kms away from the city. Incidentally, the fall is created by Subarnarekha River which falls from a height of 320 ft thus creating the most admired scenic beauty in Ranchi. At the base of the fall a beautiful pool is formed which allows visitors to take a good bath, but with precautions.

The Getalsud, a multi-purpose reservoir created in 1971 with a catchment area of 717 sqkm, is also one of the main sources of water for the capital city.
