Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chhavi Ranjan on Thursday appealed to the people of the State Capital to exercise caution in getting Covid-19 vaccination. Every person should take the same vaccine, which he or she has taken in their first dose of the vaccination and take special care of it.
There are reports of vaccine cocktails from other States, under which the first dose of the vaccine is taken, the second dose of the vaccine is not taken, due to which people or beneficiaries are facing problems. In view of this, Ranjan has appealed to all the people of Ranchi district that whoever gets the vaccine, whether it is Covishield or Covaxin should get another dose of the same vaccine and do not take different doses under any circumstances.
“If the first dose is taken with Covaxin, then the second dose is also for Covaxin. If they have taken the first dose of Covishield, then the second dose should also be Covishield,” said Ranjan.
The DC said that all the people taking the vaccine should always take care that the vaccine of the first and second doses cannot be different under any circumstances. He has also given necessary guidelines in this regard to the Civil Surgeon and the DRCHO. He said all health workers doing vaccination work will take special care that the beneficiaries should be vaccinated by the same company in the first and second doses. Health workers will ensure vaccination of other doses only after thorough verification so that there is no case of vaccine cocktail, he added.
“If a person is vaccinated by the first dose of vaccine, after 4 to 6 weeks they can take another dose of vaccine. If someone takes the vaccine in the first dose, then in 12 to 16 weeks, they can take the second dose of the vaccine. Thus, the second dose of the vaccine will be taken for the first dose,” said Ranjan.
Meanwhile, mobile vaccination was to be started by Ranchi district administration but due to cyclone Yaas, the program has been postponed for the time being. The district administration had completed the preparations on its part but Cyclone Yaas has disrupted it.
Ranchi Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Vishal Sagar reached CCL’s Jawahar Nagar to take stock of the preparations for the launch of mobile vaccination. During this time CCL General Manager (Administration) Up Narayan, Chief Medical Officer of CCL Gandhinagar and other concerned officials were present. The DDC had directed the officials to ensure complete preparation for the launch of mobile vaccination.
