Garu is 'focused' police station in Ops against naxals: SP

Published on:

Police headquarter Ranchi has identified Garu police station in latehar district as the “focused” police station.  This police station Garu is of high strategic value in terms of operations against the Maoists lurking in the Burha Pahar areas. This police station is of prime importance for the Palamu tiger reserve also as under this police station falls the tiger core areas too.

SP latehar Parshant Anand said that the focused police station is run with ‘best of man power, well coordinated intelligence network, better and effective police public rapport for feedback and sharp counter tactical move’ against the Maoists here.

Asked that just one focused police station in Garu will not suffice to deal with the Maoists’ menace in the region of Burha Pahar as co lateral police stations Bareysarn and Barwadeeh too be roped in to which Anand said the PHQ Ranchi has just declared Garu as the focused police station but the latehar police understand that Bareysarn and Barwadeeh police stations too need to be tagged together for an all out offensive against the Maoists in this contiguity of Burha Pahar.

Speaking on June 26 episode when the Maoists killed 6 cops SP latehar said it is too big a loss for the security force but here it is opportune to mention that Maoists too had lost 6 of them in latehar district at regular interval this year which included 1 zonal commander and 5 sub zonal commanders.  SP hastened to say “It is not 6=6.  Police heat on the Maoists is acute and intense. Security forces are too determined to contain and curb extremism and for this Ops will be on with the same intensity despite this loss which is too tragic.”

Anand said, “Over the last six months in latehar district there has been exchange of fire quite intermittently with the naxals which gives an edge of the security forces over the outlawed where chances to level each other remains open.”

Prior to June 26 Khapree Mahua land mines explosions as triggered by Maoists near Burha Pahar latehar police had taken the Maoists on in Kujrum areas of Palamu tiger reserve on June 24. He said neither our area domination nor our fighting spirit has any sagged down. He said police fight with naxals is on while police also strive for developmental intervention in villages from where two or more people have become Maoists or PlFI cadres.

latehar district’s Chandwa police station has two such villages from where are Maoists like from Hesla village Ravinder Ganjhu, Rajesh Ganjhu and Gobind Ganjhu are still operative as Maoists while from village Murma the villagers Muneshwar Ganjhu and Adhum Ganjhu have become Maoists and are a force to reckon with.

DGP D K Pandey has got identified 31 such villages in the state which has a two naxal tag where police are to launch special intervention, not surgical but developmental to win the hearts of the law abiding villagers there to pressure those running in Maoists or PlFI squad to return to mainstream  life.
