Garhwa district received 65 per cent less rainfall from the normal of 354.40 mm in this season by Monday, leaving farmers a worried lot.
Sciencetist of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra said that the condition will continue for at least one week even as some coastal parts received some rain because of thunderstorm. Though expressed hope that rainfall deficit would be compensated before August 15.
The agriculture scientists, however, fear that the district may head towards a drought-like situation if the trend continues. According to agriculture department paddy crops are planted only 2.88 per cent in the district due to scanty rainfall. The kharif crops and oil crops also planted very less than the targets.
