The department of road, transport and highways has initiated the process for widening and strengthening of roads, including National Highway (NH) 75 and National Highway (NH) 33 passing through Ranchi district. The department has taken the initiative after BJP MP from Ranchi, Sanjay Seth, wrote a letter to Nitin Gadkari minister of road, transport and highways highlighting the dilapidated conditions of roads.
Seth, on July 31, had written a letter to Gadkari urging the minister for repair works of dilapidated roads falling under his parliamentary constituency. The roads for which the parliamentarian has urged the minister to take the initiative includes—Taimara to Khuti (34 kilometre), Dhurwa-Lodhma-Kaara –Khunti (41 km), Ringroad Bhusru-Chukru-Siladonne-Khunti (28 km) and Hajam-Hutar (18 km).
Gadkari on receiving the letter has forwarded it to his department officials so that process can be initiated soon. Seth said, “I am thankful to minister for taking initiative. As the department’s minister has given his consent, the next step will survey these roads and after preparing the detailed project report (DPR) the work will begin on these roads.” Gadkari further said, “With the widening, repair and strengthening of these roads, residents of these areas will be benefited. Better road connectivity will help in economic development of these areas.”
The road department giving its consent for repair for roads can be seen as Seth’s initiative for development of his parliamentary constituency (Ranchi). On Wednesday, Union Human Resources Development department on the demand of Seth for opening up of central schools at Silli and Khalari has urged the state government to provide land for setting up schools in these areas.
It may be noted that a few days back, Seth has written a letter to Union Human Resources Development department minister Ramesh Pokhriyal demanding opening up of central schools in Silli and Khalari region, the two backward areas in Ranchi.
Presently there are five central schools in Ranchi district but all of these in urban areas. With the opening up of central schools in rural areas, students from rural areas will be benefitted.
Sources said that Seth, through his MPLAD fund has also laid the foundation stone of garment industrial units, construction of puja mandaps, construction of check dams, bridges and other developmental works.
In May last year, Seth, a senior BJP leader and then the president of Jharkhand Khadi Board chairman won the prestigious Ranchi seat by massive 2.83 lakh votes.
He defeated his nearest rival, former union minister and senior Congressman Subodh Kant Sahay by margin of 2.83 lakh votes. Seth was intially considered as a newcomer and the face which was not recognised beyond Ranchi seat, but the BJP candidate managed to get votes from all assembly constituencies.
Moreover, the victory of Seth gained importance as he was challenged from then sitting MP Ramtahal Choudhary after he was denied ticket by BJP on age ground.
