Purulia residents Bharti Singh, Seema Singh, Rahul Singh and Amit Singh, were arrested within 24 hours of their murdering a couple on Wednesday morning.
An executive engineer, Ajay and his wife Vandana Singh were murdered at their DVC residential quarter at Chanderpura here. The couple was found by one of their neighbour, who went to see them at around 9:30 am, and informed the police. According to the police, their throats have been slit with a sharp-edged weapon.
With the help of Purulia police, four people including two women, have been nabbed and they have confessed to their involvement in the murder. Police also recovered jewellery, weapons used in murder. Blood stained clothes of the culprits have also been confiscated. Bokaro Superintendent of Police Kuldip Dwivedi hailed the department’s efficiency.
The culprits have been living in the outhouse of Ajay Singh and one Seema Sungh had been working in his house as house servants. All four maidservant, entered the house armed, slit the throat of the victims and escaped with gold jewellery and cash. Police said that the motive behind the murder was only to loot the house. In the meantime, tension and grief have gripped all the DVC engineers at CTPS after the incident.
