Lokesh Choudhary, who was wanted in murder of two businessmen brothers Hemant (38) and Mahendra Agrawal (40) surrendered before the court of additional judicial commissioner Vishal Srivastava of Ranchi civil court.

The court forwarded him to Birsa Munda Central Jail in judicial custody.

Choudhary, the local channel head of Sadhna News evaded arrest almost for 20 months after he allegedly shot dead Agrawal brothers at his office chamber at posh Ashok Nagar under Argora police station of capital city on March 6 last year.

Choudhary had a financial dispute with Agrawal brothers as according to police he owed victims Rs 5 lakh.

Within a week of the incident Ranchi police had arrested Sunil Singh from Bokaro who was the private security guard of Choudhary. Singh had confessed before the police having witnessed the murder, but denied that he fired the bullets. On the disclosure of bodyguard police recovered a licensed revolver of the accused used in the crime with 19 rounds of bullets ammunition was recovered from his home.

Both were shot at least twice, once on the head and on the chest.

During investigation police recovered a burnt digital video recorder of a CCTV camera, mobile phones of victims and the part of burnt T-shirt that Singh was claimed to be wearing at the time of murder.

But police were unable to track Choudhary and to an extent that police had no information that a key accused of a sensational murder case has come to surrender.

Deceased brothers who stayed with their families in Shivaji Apartment at Mukti Sharan Lane in Lalpur used to run courier service Pawan Air Cargo. They had apparently gone to meet Choudhary at the news channel office on March 6 to remind him about the loan.

When they did not return home their family members lodged a missing complaint at Lalpur police station.

Police traced their phone location to Choudhary’s chamber in Ashok Nagar.
