To tread a distance of thousand miles an initial stride is the pre-requisite. The State has to travel a long way to achieve development which can be fulfilled by recruiting people on time. Human resource is an elementary pillar of the economy. By providing employment in Naxal-hit areas, the undesirable problem of Naxalism will be sorted out automatically.
An exceptional initiative should be taken by Forest Department to promote Arjun, rubber plants which would provide new job opportunities and which in turn will strengthen the State’s economy. Chief Secretary, RS Sharma said this on Wednesday at a review meeting of the Forest and Environment Department.
Sharma said Jharkhand is proficient enough to provide employment in the field of Agriculture but the cultivable land in the State accounts to be low and whatever is available is not very productive. In this condition, the administration has to play an important role to explore alternative solution of employment. He indicated that the state has unlimited opportunity in cash crops and by planting Arjun, tasar production will be improved thereby enhancing the employment prospect. He gave directions to the officials present in the meeting to present a report by end of this month to identify fallow lands that comes under protected forest areas.
He also told them to study the role of planting Arjun on those lands and evaluate how much it will contribute to the state’s economy. On the basis of survey report, the plantation of Arjun will be implemented in the next financial year under the Inclusive Growth Programme in all the districts. Sharma said that Jharcraft, Industry Department and Forest Department should evaluate and decide a procedure on the same.
In this context, Chief Secretary said that there is immense potential in rubber plantation. The rubber plantation gives a good yield in 4 to 5 years even in fallow lands. The Chief Secretary directed to use the production of rubber as a catalyst in employment generation.
