Expressing deep concern over wastage of foodgrains by soaking in water at Bokaro Railway Station, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Thursday said that Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Indian Railway is completely responsible for wasting of the grains.
Addressing media persons at the party headquarter in the State Capital, JPCC chief-cum-Food Supply Minister Dr Rameshwar Oraon said it is very worrying to see wastage of the grain in such a way by soaking in water at railway station in Bokaro but the State Government is not to blame for this waste, but the FCI and Indian Railways are responsible.
Oraon said the Central Government provides food grains to the State Government through FCI, but these grains are being wasted by soaking in water at the station but the FCI and the Railway administration are not saving it.
In response to a question on the damage done to the State exchequer during the corona transition period, JPCC chief said after GST is implemented, the State financially receives revenue from excise, professional tax and VAT, applicable during the transition period. “Due to restrictions, all three things are affected, due to which revenue collection has reduced, many restrictions are in force under Health Safety Week, measures will be taken to increase revenue collection after the situation becomes normal,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister Badal said the BJP had earlier mislead people by presenting false data about the wastage of vaccine and now the confusion is being spread among people on the issue of soaking grains in the rain, it is part of BJP’s propaganda to run against the States where BJP is not in power.
Badal said that the Central Government provides food grains to the State Government through FCI, but due to the negligence of FCI and railway administration, the State Government has not received this grain, so how can the State Government be held responsible for it. He said that when the possibility of rains due to the Yaas storm was being informed for the last 10 days, then why the FCI and the Railway Administration did not take necessary steps to keep it safe.
JPCC Spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo and Rajesh Gupta and Adivasi Congress Vice president Sunny Toppo were also present on the occasion.
