The scheduled review of Department of Food and Civil Supplies on Friday by the Chief Minister deferred to any other day. Though no official word came from the authorities, it is learnt the Department was unprepared about presentations of its schemes and the milestones achieved before the Chief Minister.
When contacted, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy said that he was ready for the meeting but was informed about its cancelation at the last moment.
“The review was scheduled for today and I was waiting for a call at my office. But later it was told the officials of the Department were not ready with their documents and have requested the Chief Secretary to postpone it for some time,” Roy told this newspaper.
In fact Vinay Kumar Chaubey was Secretary of the Department for a fairly long period and on Friday itself Himani Pandey has joined as new Secretary. This apart, some other senior bureaucrats were on leave ahead of the review meetings, which are continuing for last four days to evaluate performances of all the departments.
“Since Himani Pandey has just joined in, she may not be fully aware about the recent steps taken and their execution at ground level. It is now up to the Chief Secretary to fix any new date for the review to take place,” said the Minister.
