Focus on holistic aspects of education: RSS chief

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said that an individual should focus on educational and cultural nurturing of self rather than vocational aspects of education.

While inaugurating a teacher’s training institution at the outskirts of the state capital, Bhagwat said, “Whatever you have got has been given by others from the society. You must try to pay back to the society. Today Education has become a business cum industry imitated by the western nations. This needs to be stopped. Education inculcates in making the future of the nation so it should not be taken as a business. This business tendency does not prevail in the government sector prior to the arrival of the Britishers. In fact, those days educational institutions were made with the contributions of the social institutions.”

Situated at Kudhlum village at Nagri, around 20 km from the state capital, the college is named after late Aditya Prakash Jalan who died in a road accident in Odisha in 2010. His family has contributed a major large piece of funds for the cradle set up at a cost of Rs One crore. Affiliated to National Council of Educational Training (NCET), this college will be run by Vidya Vikas Samiti, a non-governmental educational organisation that manages schools and colleges following the sangh’s principles.

Remembering Aditya, his father Gyan Prakash Jalan, an RSS member said, “This College is made in memory of my son. We donated his entire savings as well as his insurance amount for building the cradle. The idea was to keep Aditya’s name alive.” He informed that the college will be opened for the public soon. It has 100 seat limit in a batch. The college is well equipped with Wi-Fi facilities, laboratory with 15 computers, two classrooms and library bearing 3400 books. “My main motive was to invest my son’s savings for a fruitful purpose and there can be nothing best than opening a teacher’s training college as there is a need of teachers abiding Right to Education norms in the society these days,” added Gyan.

The main objective behind establishing this B.ed College is to encourage the youths in the field of education. It is to be noted, there are overall 54 schools in Jharkhand backed by RSS including 25 Central Board Secondary Education and 29 Jharkhand Academic Council schools. On this occasion, prominent ministers namely former CM Arjun Munda, BJP State president Ravindra Rai, Senior BJP leaders Raghubar Das and Dineshananda Goswami along with other political leaders were present here. Noted Academicians from local universities were also here.
